We’ve been excitedly hearing about the Bambuddha Lounge replacement at the Phoenix Hotel for months now, to be named Chambers. Why excitedly, you may ask? The Phoenix Hotel doesn’t look like much from outside and the location is not the greatest either, right? Well, as SFist puts it, it’s one of the very few places in San Francisco where you can have a drink poolside and exorcise your LA fetish.
And on Wednesday we did just that on orange deck chairs, for the Disposable Film Fest, just with a bit more clothing than we would imagine wearing in LA. In spite of the San Francisco weather, we greatly enjoyed lounging by the pretty re-designed pool and the now fancy outdoor area, including a fire fountain.
We also got a nice preview of the gorgeous interior of the brand new Chambers bar and restaurant, designed by Mister Important Design and which surprisingly looks much like the renderings that circulated a couple of months ago. We asked owner Sean Mancheste when the actual opening is going to be, and he responded that “in an ideal world, next Tuesday but it’s probably going to be Wednesday”. What we know for sure is that they’ll definitely be open by Thursday, as that’s when the four-day art fair extravaganza of ArtPad starts.
In the meantime, enjoy a few photos we took on our way to the restrooms.

The interior design looks HOT!
Are those vinyl records lining that wall?
Did they remove the fireplace? Zeki’s, the Barleycorn & here were my 3 local fireplace bars. Seems it’s a dying feature.
A big thank you to Zeki’s for keeping theirs after their little remodel!
@John Marcher Yes, they are! And a great collection, too…
@ryan The firaplace is still there, you can see it on the 5th picture. We also love fireplaces
Yaaaay. So looking forward to hanging there.
Records made of something else, perhaps? At least he didnt’t say “vinyls” which is truly regrettable.
I went to Chambers last Saturday night sort of by accident, not knowing I was going to be offered an amazing five course meal for free! The food was incredible. The interior is lined wall to wall with vinyl albums which warmed my heart. The decor is gorgeous. Thank goodness the ‘ol Bambuddha Lounge is gone. This is a wonderful change.
@Liza Ooohh! Lucky you!
@ Evarels — I know! I was like, holy cow!! Then we were asked to provide feedback on the meal. Ends up they use grapeseed and truffle oil on everything. We should go for dinner sometime. Please let me know if you want to talk about it.
Anyone know if they are taking reservations?
@ aaron: Not sure if they are officially open yet, but the hostess told me probably late May. You should just try to do a walk in. I’m guessing they are going to be booked and pretty hot when they open.
@ Liza I just saw an article today on Urban Daddy that they’re actually opening today! Really excited to check this spot out.
Im a line cook at Chambers, glad yall like the food! The exec chef is a very talented and innovative man! And we ARE open! Comeon by!!
