First it was DWNTWN who moved to a bigger space in SOMA a few months ago, now their former next door neighbor (also specializing in skater apparel), Infinte SF has also moved from the block of Hyde Street between Post and Geary. Those two little store spaces seem doomed, as no business seems to last more than a year or two in them. Apparently some green cleaning company took over the old DWNTWN space, seemingly just for storage as they’re not open to the public which is a shame, given that you don’t need sidewalk-facing space for storage. We have no idea what will open in the former Infinite space, as the last time we talked to the landlord a couple of months ago he said he had a several applications for potential tenants.
What we do know is that Infinite hasn’t moved very far away. Apparently, since DWNTWN left the block on Hyde, they were thinking about moving somewhere else with more foot traffic and closer to another similar-minded store. Now they’re just a few steps away from The Hundreds, in the old INVS space on 627 Post (at Taylor). Unfortunately, INVS had to close due to the economic downturn after over four years in business. This is their farewell:
It’s been a great 41/2 years of business! Unfortunately, due to the economic condition INVS has closed its doors, although the ever so popular and growing INFINITE is taking over our location. INFINITE will carry a slew of brands including OBEY, Acapulco Gold, Crooks and Castles, Play Clothes, Rebel 8, GPPR and many more. We want to thank everyone that supported us over the years, it has been a really fun ride, but we are moving on to new endeavors.
