New Year’s Eve is right around the corner, and for all of you undecided Tenderloiners out there, we’ve selected three cool options to spend it in the neighborhood. We’ll call them the free, the nerdy and the fancy:
- Black Gold at Koko Cocktails: The awesome DJ Senator Soul (who you usually find at Koko’s every Monday night after 10pm) is going to be spinning some quality soul, R&B, and 60’s sides on 45. On top of that, it’s his birthday so the good mood is guaranteed. Oh, and more importantly: the party’s free and it’s happening in your favorite neighborhood bar! From 10pm to 2am.
- Binary NYE at GAFFTA: This is a very geeky party, with a kinect camera sensor installed above the audience and projections displaying collective movement. Also, there will be live performances by Moniker, Qzen, and Nikola Baytala, WORTHY, Total Accomplishment (Mathew Dryhurst, Holly Herndon, and Scott Arford). AND they’ll have a LED balloon drop, complimentary champagne toast, and an OPEN BAR all night. Free for 2010 purchased memberships (which start at $60). From 9pm to 4am.
Glamourous NYE at Jones: This fancy indoor/outdoor bar is throwing a party they’re calling a black-tie extravaganza, including a formal/semi-formal attire, a hosted bar (meaning all drinks and champagne are included with your admission), passed hors d’ overs until midnight, desserts after, AND a ball drop off the roof of their building, a la Times Square!! $100, if you’re a party of 8+ they’ll throw in a ticket at no charge. 8pm till dawn.It turns out this party has been cancelled “due to unforeseen circumstances”, and they also had to suspend their hours.
As usual, do send us your pics of the event if you’d like to share your fun with Tender readers. And Happy New Year to you all!
