One of the greatest historic elements to the Tenderloin are the wonderful old neon signs everywhere, just begging to be photographed. Of course sometimes the profusion of regular signs is impressive as well as fun to photograph. One of the most photogenic places being the corner of Eddy and Taylor, pictured here by Vic Gedris.
The other day we caught some guys with a cherry picker changing the lights of the top sign, for the Moler Barber College. Why has this college had a sign there? According to Google it’s located over on 6th street. Once the lights were changed, the sign wasn’t put back though, so we have no idea. For over a week now, the frame has been showing only the naked light tubes. It makes us wonder if a sign for a different business will go up eventually, maybe for one that’s actually on that corner.
