“Santarchy” is an annual city-wide Santas-only pub crawl. This flash mob type event brings together hundreds of slightly sober people dressed in Santa costumes parading around the city, visiting landmarks (like walking down Lombard Street) drinking at bars and causing general mayhem.
And just so you know, wearing a santa hat isn’t enough… get yourself a full-on santa suit.
12:30pm Start at Civic Center: Then head one one of three Santa Crawls throughout the city – East, North, and South.
We, of course, recommend to head North to the Tenderloin crawl. It includes the following bars: Ha-Ra, Aces, Blur and Lefty O’Doul’s (complete schedule here).
And at 8pm: afterparty at Space Gallery on Polk.

I’ll have to join you guys next year! I went and made my very own Mrs. Clause outfit. It was a total blast. Every Santa I met was happy/silly/drunk. Not one grumpy Santa in the entire town.
Just wanted to report in that the Santas shut down Aces for nearly an hour.
It is so fun to have an awesome event like this in the ‘hood, and I know it’s good for business, just wish there was a bit more consideration shown by the groups for local patrons and businesses.
