On Monday, the Kauff over at SF Foodie suggested a few cheap restaurant alternatives to the Thanksgiving turkey (with the very appropriate title ‘Screw Turkey: Nine Alternatives to the Traditional Thanksgiving Feast‘). While we’re very happy that he included our much-loved Lers Ros in the list, we know that’s not enough of an option for all of you Tenderloiners out there without a plan for tomorrow’s big meal (or without piles of money to spend on plane tickets to go see the familiy and get your crotch fondled). That’s why we’d like to compile our own list of places to eat in the neighborhood tomorrow, or actually your list dear tender readers, as we’re too lazy to do research on such short notice…

For starters, yesterday coming out the Powell Bart station I saw a sign at this coffeeshop and bakery called Barbary Coast at the corner of Eddy and Cyril Magnin announcing they’ll be open. So you know where you can have breakfast. But what about dinner? Add your suggestions in the comments, but please, guys, don’t say free dinner at Glide!

PS: Inspired by this post by Lady Beth, we’d also like to ask you what you’re giving thanks for this year. Just because we’re nosey like that…

The Tender List

  • Tender reader Sean suggest Little Henry’s (955, Larkin). Open from 10:00am to 10:00pm, no reservations necessary. Only $13.45 plus, includes soup or salad, turkey and ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie and coffee or tea. Not in the mood for the turkey dinner? Order from their regular menu as well. Call 415.776.1757 for more information.
  • Another tender reader recommends Maharani (1122, Post), an Indian restaurant with a romantic atmosphere. Open for dinner between 5-10pm, but we don’t know much more than that.

More options suggested by the Tenderloin Restaurant Examiner:

  • Fish and Farm (339, Taylor), featuring local and seasonal American seafood and artisanal meat will be open on the 25th from 5:00pm to 10:30pm, serving the regular menu plus Thanksgiving specials based on the best the market has to offer. Call 415.474.3474 for more information and to make a reservation.
  • Millennium (580 Geary) is offering an elegant 5 course prix fixe dinner featuring some of the finest vegetarian/vegan cuisine in San Francisco. Unfortunately, it’s sold out.
