Now that the San Francisco Giants have won their first World Series in the city’s history it’s time to party! I don’t know who’s going to work today, because at 11am there will be a massive celebratory parade (starting at Montgomery and Pacific, down Market Street and ending at the Civic Center). Following the parade, Mayor Gavin Newsom will present the Giants with the key to the city on the steps of City Hall. You can see a map of the route here, naturally though, we recommend going to Civic Center. But go now, since it’s crowding up fast (as shown by this picture taken by @40goingon28 at 8:30am).
The route of the ticker-tape parade will replicate the one taken by the team when they first came to San Francisco from New York in 1958. Also, the Examiner reports that an emergency shipment of confetti had to be flown in from Los Angeles last night, that ten characters from “Beach Blanket Babylon” are on the lineup, and that Placido Domingo is rumored to be singing the national anthem. Apparently, other famous faces might be in the crowd as well, dying to be seen sporting orange and black. Or the Ed Hardy-esque official Giants 2010 World Series parade shirt.
But if you’re lazy like us, you can watch the whole thing comfortably from home (err, your office) via Ustream & KRON-TV (as noted by the SF Citizen, nobody will know that you’re watching but your IT/ networking person. And s/he will be streaming this as well – Don’t Ask Don’t Tell…).
