As part of the Central Market Arts Festival, happening between September 24 and October 17, today the students of the Art Institute of California were making some art in front of their building at the UN Plaza. With the usual Thursday Arts Market, and the first Off the Grid there, it was a pretty happening day at the Plaza.
The students had a few canvases outside for some collaborative painting, and also a big blackboard for passersby to express themselves. The whole thing was closely watched by their security guy, I guess just in case some crazy person would want to draw something inappropriate.
Of course, among the most popular themes were unicorns and narwhals. Lately I see them everywhere, but I guess it’s a generational thing or what? I just don’t get it.
