Do you remember this happening corner on Leavenworth at Geary? Well, as pointed out by a few readers when we first mentioned it (notably etslee who actually did some research), it turns out that Gallery Heist around the corner rents it to showcase their artists. So the two pieces displayed on that wall last month were reproductions of works by Mario Ayala (the skulls) and David Rozelle (the little boy with a party hat). Both of them were part of an exhibit titled ‘Ephemeral Beauty‘ and can be purchased online via Heist (but lemme tell you, they aren’t cheap).

After the ‘Ephemeral Beauty’ works, during the whole month of September there was one by Mario Wagner in relation to his solo show at the gallery titled ‘Observed by Clouds‘, from the 4th to the 25th. The Heist Facebook page even has a photo set of Mario Wagner creating the mural on the corner of Leavenworth and Geary.

Actually, as of today Wagner’s work is still at the ‘happening corner’ and I assume it will stay there until the opening of the next show on October 9th, ‘These fragments‘ by Adam Caldwell. And they have an opening reception that day from 7 to 10pm, so add it already to your social calendars.
