Surely this is just something for hanging out at as I’ve never seen anyone eating there. And to be honest, I don’t want to rip on Yemeni’s as we do indeed like the food and especially how it’s a good deal different than Saha across the street despite their both being from the same small region. It’s just that this looks like the outdoor seating at Dave’s pawn shop in Flight of the Conchords. I half expect to see two New Zealand tourists plop down on it and have a coffee at any given moment.
This is obviously some kind of subliminal reminder that we need to get down there again someday soon to take better photos for a full-fledged review. If you haven’t given it a try, head on down for something different and tasty.

This is just a table where the owner/employees sit outside on a warm afternoon. I think someone left a couch on the sidewalk on Hyde, maybe you could write a few paragraphs about that.
Heh, yeah, I saw that couch but resisted as my used furniture appreciation is a bit out of control.
There is a mysterious “not-so-dining” table and chairs out in front of Abir Pizza on Geary St.
On occasion they bring out the big table and several chairs to have what seems to me the whole clan sitting outside when it’s warm at night.
I like that atmosphere.
All joking aside, it does bring up an important point as to why having outdoor seating in this town has to be such an arduous process? I say let anyone with an establishment go down, pay $100 or whatever and that’s it. They set up their seating and as long as they follow the rules, they can do it. Don’t let bars have one or any place that’s open past 11PM. If anyone in the neighborhood files a complaint about it and the establishment is in violation, it’s an escalating fine with a three strikes and you’re out policy. This way City Hall gets their bureaucracy money, we get a livelier (and safer) street seen, and it generates more revenue for the city as people love to eat outside.
So simple it will never work in this town…
Wouldn’t that be just fantastic with all the coffee shops popping open everywhere in the TL now? I’m not too much of a fan of North Beach, but I’m envious of their street side cafes. There’s just something about watching traffic go by outside with a cup of coffee.
As of outdoor seating, I guess I still have Angel Cafe and maaaybe Little Bird in the future.
